When baby Cola was 5-months-old

Physical:
Weight: 7.95kg
Height: 69cm

Sleep:
Sleep at around 8:30pm. Still wake up 2 or 3 times at night for milk.

Feeding:
Drink 4 - 5oz every 3 hours.

Interesting parts:

• He can finally roll over from back to tummy in the first week of the 5th month!
• He did not enjoy cny. He refused to drink milk after the visiting on the first day!
• He looked at my mouth when I sing him ABCDE. Then, sometimes he will sing along until he falls asleep.
• He learns to attract attention when he is alone. He will look into your direction and make noises to attract you. He will get very excited if you reply to him. kekee
• He can play with toy such as rattle by himself.
  
• He has a lot of fun with his little hands. He has also started to taste on his toes. Haha..
  
• He cries softly for cuddles or for milk.
• We let him having milk lying down on bed instead of carrying him towards the end of the 5th month.
  
• He pouts when stranger carries him. Then, the eyes turn red. He will cry softly if we still did not come to his rescue. The way he says NO is just so cute!

Remarks:

• I bathed him for the second time. I think he enjoyed himself this time as the daddy was playing with him. The daddy tried to help bathing him but he just need to learn more! ;Þ I am quite steady in bathing him now.
• Not dare to praise him too much in front of friends anymore, as he is not as good boy whenever go out with them. LOL!
• Reminding ourselves do not spoil the child! Haha
  

Drug - Raptiva

Raptiva is medicine given by injection and is used to treat adult patients (18 years or older) with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious autoimmune disease which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. Full Moon Gift Pack

Months ago, when I was still in confinement, I was quite excited when thinking of the gift pack that we were going to prepared for our colleagues.

In the old days, the chinese usually gives ka chang ma chicken, red eggs and ang ku kueh to relatives and friends to inform them the baby is full moon. But this tradition is seldom to be seen practice nowadays. Most of the time, they are replaced with a slice of delicious cake from the bakery. Cooking ka chang ma chicken alone is troublesome, what more to say have to boil red eggs and make ang ku kueh. Not everyone know how to make ang ku kueh too! ;p But, it so happened that my mil can make ang ku kueh.



For relatives, we still prepared ka chang ma and red eggs. As for colleagues, ccw and I were almost get the bakery service to help us pack and deliver cakes as we did not feel right to trouble my mil to make all the kuehs. But after much discussion, we decided to get ourselves busy a bit to prepare for the unique full moon gift packs for our colleagues since this is not like happening everyday! My mil seemed to love the idea a lot. So, she made the ang ku kueh and the sesame peanut ball. We got ccw's aunt to make the fruit tarts. CCW did the packaging and delivery. CCW and mil wake up very early to get the gift packs ready. An small incident happened where they missed out a box of the fruit tarts inside the refrigerator and thought that the aunt did not make enough. As a result, some gift packs had no fruit tarts. LOL!


The photos only show part of the gifts that we had prepared, there were more! There were a lot of work to get things done.

Budget trip to Kota Kinabalu (KK) - Day 2

Everyone woke up happily and ready to explore the town.

We went down the hostel and looked for breakfast. According to CPH, choose the any kopitiam that has many customer, then the food should be good. Thus we chose the kopitiam, RONG JI, 2 minutes walk from the hostel. We had the beef noodle!

Winnie was our tour guide of the day as CPH and KC were working on Friday. Instead of bringing us to Filipino Market, she brought us to a morning walk. ;p

Finally we reached Filipino Market.

This is the place we bought souvenirs. Hehee..look at those tshirts. They are priced at RM45 and the owner told us they give discount and it is RM25 each.

We tried to get somemore discount from her, but she said already discount which later we found out that the stalls in shopping mall sell the tshirt at RM25 even without discount! KEKEKEK...

Next, we moved on to Warisan Square. *AHEM* all branded ya?! no play play ok. At this point, finally I understand that what it means when people said visitors are the targeted shoppers. Later, we went to Centerpoint.

We had lunch at Mong Kok hong kong style cafe.

Finally, CPH and KCLEE came to meet us after work.

We check out from Akinabalu Youth Hostel and move into North Borneo Cabin. They own by the same person, it is full at Akinabalu Youth Hostel, thus they find another room for us in North Borneo Cabin. We were supposed to stay at a 5 stars hotel that night, but we cant get the cheap offer. :(

Had the BAK KUT TEH at Yu Kee.



They brought us to Tanjung Aru to enjoy the night life there.

It is a budget trip, so we had drinks and snacks at the stalls.


Avocado juice is a very famous juice, but we did not order that! ;p

After juices....we had bread...Budget Trip, ok?

So many things to eat, bread also can get famous there! Hmm...

I made another online purchase from Everyday Minerals. The third batch of my order only arrived after 5 weeks!

Moving house

Not me! ;p

So, who is moving house?

Do you still remember this plant?! It was given by pink cotton back in Dec 2006! I talked about it before.

Dear PC, yes, believe what you see, the plant is still alive! :)

The vase is obviously too small for it now, so I decided to move it into a bigger vase. It took me 3 days to finally move it into the new house successfully.

Day 1.
I got the new vase to office and poured all the remaining jellies (or crystal balls) from iamdoryfish into it.

Day 2.
I put all the jellies and the plant into the new vase, but there is not enough jellies. I bought some more back during lunch time and soak them into the water.


Day 3.
Now, the plant is sitting comfortably inside the new house! :)

1st Valentine's Day

This is the first year that we celebrated Valentine's Day with baby Cola! Yes, we still celebrate Valentine's Day but it is a day earlier. =)

We had our dinner at Koreana, having my favourite BBQ pork. Baby Cola was playing with his little fingers and making a lot of noises using his little mouth inside the stroller while we enjoyed ourselves having the dinner.

Then, we took a walk at Padungan. He was excited to see so many big bears. We even took photos there. Ever since having baby Cola with us, we love to take photos anywhere anytime. Before that, it is impossible for me to do things like that, well, I am shy. 'x'! To make me feel better, the dad helped baby Cola to buy me a rose using his hard earn money (ang pao)! LOL!

And I love it very much even though it is not as pretty as the one the dad bought for me. :D


And, I am going to give him a surprise gift this year! I am sure whether he will like it or not! Hopefully, he will! ;P

Pneumococcal Diseases

So, today, we are going to talk about Pneumococcal Disease!

How serious is Pneumococcal Disease?
It can be very serious! It may cause permanent hearing loss, brain damage and DEATH.

Who is at risk?

• Infants below 24 months of age
• Children with recent day-care attendance
• Infants or children with at least one recent course of antibiotics
• Infants or children with a history of recent ear infection
• Other groups at high risk include children with chronic disease or those who are immuno-compromised
• Infants or children exposed to passive smoking

What is it?
Pneumococcal diseases are infections caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae, also known as pneumococcus.
The pneumococcus bug can cause meningitis (infection of the lining of the brain or spinal cord), pneumonia (infection of the lung), bacteraemia (blood infection), as well as otitis media (infection in the middle ear).

How is it transmitted?
Streptococcus pneumoniae is transmitted from person to person and is commonly found in the nose and throat of healthy children and adults. The bacteria are transferred to another person via droplets of saliva or mucus, such as when a “carrier” sneezes, coughs, shares toys or kisses someone. While not all individuals will get sick, anyone in whom the bacteria have colonized is a carrier and can potentially infect others through airborne particles, such as those in sneezes or coughs or close contact.

How to treat it?
Meningitis and bacteraemia can develop very quickly so it is vital that treatment is provided without delay. Antibiotics are used to treat these diseases and are effective in most cases if started in time. However, a small number of bacteria are resistant to some antibiotics, which results in longer periods in hospital with greater cost.

How to prevent it?
It can be prevented by a series of vaccination (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine PCV) for your children.

How much does it cost?
It costs around RM280 - RM302 per injection at private clinics in Kuching. It depends on which clinic you visit.

When baby Cola was 4-months-old

Physical:
Lazy to bring baby Cola to clinic for the monthly follow-up since it is optional as there is no vaccination given this month according to the chart. At home, we tried to measure him. His weight is between 7.5 - 8kg.

Sleep:
Sleep at around 8:30pm. Still wake up 2 or 3 times at night for milk. There was a week, he only wake up twice at night!

Feeding:
Drink 3.5 - 4oz every 2-3 hours.

Interesting parts:

• He has no problem having short stay at my parents' place.
• He can sing. He sings himself to sleep when we swing him.
• He likes Mickey Mouse. No, I did not force him to like it. I am surprised to see him getting so excited whenever he see Mickey Mouse, the wizard. He will make noise, move his hands in the air and kick his legs. We think that it is because of the red cloak.
• He cuddles the snowman to sleep at night.
• He laughs so heartily and loudly everytime we play with him. I love his laughters.
• He does not look handsome in dark colour clothes. I think he is "too baby" for dark colour clothes. 'x'!

Remarks:
I bathed him for the first time!! Do not blame me, I wish to bath him very much but both my mom and mil never seem to have much confident in me and they will bath him when it is time. Anyway, I am glad to find a chance on a weekend and my mom just let me try! At first, everything went well. But, baby Cola cried once he saw my mom! My mom said he must be very worried that he got slip off my grab. ;Þ
