Last night, we had a great experience shopping with the kids.
I think it was the first time we go shopping with both of the kids at the departmental store for CCW's apparels where Princess Cola can walk on her own. Most of the time, we carried her.
So the Princess was like a horse being let loose. We lost her the next second after I placed her on the floor. Aden and I were looking and calling for her in the bushes (racks of hanging clothes). We could not find her and I was a bit panic. I was standing in front of a fitting room with its door closed. The sales girl whispered "Fitting Room" to me, and I was not too sure what she meant and she pointed to the fitting room in front of me. I slowly pushed open the door and then I heard Princess Cola's laughing with joys!
Baby Cola was very happy to have a mate playing hide-and-seek. Usually he will be the one who is bored when we go shopping. Now, I think he will not anymore. And I guessed, he will not say that the sister does not know how to play with him anymore in near future.
CCW finally decided to carry princess and asked me to find him something suitable. Then bring the princess into the fitting room together so that she wont go missing. LOL!
A space for people who are close with me in heart yet far apart by distances and also people who are close with me in distance yet too busy with their own stories to share my everyday stories.

Summary of K1
Tests
Starting in K1, baby Cola is introduced to tests in Kindergarten which include BM, English, Chinese, Sciences, Maths and Moral. We have been putting our efforts in teaching him to do well in each test.
During the first semester, it is quite tough for us (for baby Cola and me!) especially in BM. He can hardly read any word from his textbook which drives me really mad! I accused him for not paying attention in class and he was getting frustrated and exhausted from all the scolding and threatening by me in forcing him to learn everything. Yes, I admitted that I have been pushing him too hard without realizing it. All that is in my mind was: If he cant read the word, he definitely can't understand it as well, how is he going to do the test paper? After that incident, I talked to friends, mothers of his classmates and teachers, I understand better how the test is conducted. Teacher will be reading the questions to the students and the students only need to choose the correct answer.
Lesson learnt:
1. Relax, mother! This is just K1!
2. Talk to the teacher when you have question.
Then, in Semester 2, I changed the way doing revision with him. We make it a habit to do revision from time to time in a very short period for example: 5-15 mins everyday. I noticed that he is doing better in his BM too. I believe he can understand better at school too, either the teacher has changed the way she teaches or baby Cola has found the way to absorb. We will tell him to get good results every time he has test. He told me this not only once: "Mummy, it is not necessary to get 100%." I know what he means. But, as parents, we must have some expectation to guide him to do better. I remain in silent until one fine day, I thought of a very good answer to make him know the importance of getting 100%.
My little story goes like this:
Baby Cola, in life, we have many tests to take. For example, if you want to drive, you need to pass the driving law test. There are 50 questions, and you need to score 47 and above to get a pass. which means, you can only get 3 questions wrong at most. So, you will need to practice from now on, to try your best in doing well in your test.
This works on him very well because driving is his biggest dream right now.
Doing revision no longer involved in tears towards the end of Semester 2. In fact, I believe he can do the test paper without the guidance from teacher too.

Competitions
Over the year, there a few competitions: Story-telling, Singing and Colouring. Last year, Aden is one of the story-telling winners. We have been putting a lot of effort in training him at home, forcing to practice. This year, when we tried to do the same to him, he kept finding excuses to avoid practices. Well, we do not push him hard this time. We told him, if he is really interested in telling story, we are happy to guide him. But if he is not interested, it is fine. We just want to make it clear that it is his choice. And he lose in the competition. He is unhappy when he knew it even though he tried not to show it. It is definitely a very good lesson to learn.
Teacher was very surprised by the result, and talked to me when I sent him to school one day. Baby Cola saw teacher talking to me. So, I told Cola about our conversation which is basically about the reason why he did not win the competition. He just listened quietly.
When the Singing Competition coming up, both teacher and baby Cola himself are very excited and agreed to sing the song chosen by the teacher. So, the parents has to take up the responsibilities to let the kids practice at home. Baby Cola was very cooperative this time. He practice it whenever we told him to.
But he was still a little nervous on the day. He told me, he still cant follow the music. So, I told him just do his best. He did his best and win a prize. He was all happy!
Solo on stage during the school annual concert.
During the school annual concert, he enjoyed himself very much to be able to appear on the stage for a few times for performances from singing solo to dancing in group and also receiving prizes. I went to the back of the stage a few times to help him get changed and talked to his little friends. There is a little boy telling me some sort of joke which I did not catch him and maybe I looked a bit too serious and Baby Cola quickly explain to me that his friend is a joker and he is just telling a joke. :D I guess my boy must be worrying that his mama is going to scold his little friend! LOL! I am really happy to see his transformation from a shy boy to a more outgoing little man.

I want a kuku bird
My 2-year-old daughter loves to follow whatever the brother is doing.
Last night, when she saw the brother was peeing inside the toilet, she quickly took off the pants herself, and telling me that she wants to pee. She even try to remove the diaper herself.
So I told her to wait for me because she is too short to climb onto the toilet bowl and she cant pee standing up. When I was holding her to secure her on the toilet bowl, she told me this:

Say Bye to MamyPoko XXL
When Cola turns 5-year-old this year, I told him that he will not be using diapers at night.
The little trick that I did to make him stop wearing a diaper willingly...
I told him that his little friend's mother told me that her son does not use any diapers at even younger age. Mummy just kept quiet as listening to the proud mama telling it and secretly wishing to be as proud as his little friend's mother. Mummy did not tell his little friend's mother that Cola is still wearing one at night. You promise mummy not to use one so that mummy can tell her so next time, ok?
So, he agrees.
For the first few nights, I tried to wake him up at the time I got up to make milk for my daughter which is around 4am. It was very difficult to make him to go to the toilet and sometimes, he did not really have the urge to pee.
I stopped doing so after a while because I thought that it will affect his sleep quality. So, I told him to wake up by himself to pee. He wet the bed on and off for few weeks. We have to wake up in the middle of the night to remove the bedsheet and clean the mattress. It is very tedious work. Some of the nights, we just sleep on a bedsheet-less mattress.
During those nights, some nights he manage to wake up to pee after he wet his pants. But sometimes he slept like a log, and we are the one jump out of bed when we felt the wetness.
After 6 weeks of diaper-less night, I am not very sure how he did it but now he can sleep through the night without going to the toilet or wet the bed. :)
I guess he is proud when he gives the last packet of MamyPoko XXL to his cousin because he is telling him that he does not need it anymore.
I am not sure at what age a kid should stop using a diaper. I think it based on individual case. Before my son go diaper-less, I noticed that his diaper was dry for some nights. I think that is a sign. Furthermore, my son is actually outgrow the XXL diaper.
Also, there are waterproof bed pad to protect your mattress (which I get to know later). What I am using now is the diaper changing mat (cheap and recycle).
After 1 months + suffering, now we can sleep with peaceful mind. We can have more space in luggage when traveling too. *wink*

Little princess speaks
On the very beautiful Malaysia Day,
Saw the military vehicles which join the Malaysia Day Parade stopped by the roadside.
Ccw parked the car and we walked over to let the children have a closer look.
I asked little princess whether she wants to stand side by side with the bro and have a photo shot and she said: 我没有脚。 (I do not have legs)
In fact, what she meant was she did not put on any shoes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lazying on the bed, taking a nap.
Ccw came up with the little princess to ask me whether want to go for early dinner but then he decided not to.
Later, they came up again.
Little Princess: 你好了没?你起来了没?(Are you ready? Wake up dy?)
Koala Bear
We made a trip to Gold Coast and Sydney recently. It was a fun and memorable trip together with my family (my parents, bros and their families)!
When we were at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and watching the cute koala bear eating leaves on the tree, my son happily told me that he wants to keep a koala bear as his pet in future. And you know what reply his mom will give.
"No, I don't think you can keep it as a pet"
The little boy was so upset!
"Why every time I wanted something, you always say no. The koala bear is so cute, yet you say no!"
Sigh... Instead of explaining further, I let the dad to handle the "mess" I caused.
I overheard their conversation later where ccw has miraculously replaced koala bear with a tortoise! Ccw told Aden that he can keep tortoise as a pet. And my son buy that!
Oh well, as long as it works.
Thursday Lunch with the GIRLS...no more!
It has been more than 8 years we have this tradition to lunch together on Thursday.
There are five of us who join this company in the same year but different month. We are in 3 different teams.
I am not sure what bring us together maybe we are young. Ha! No la, I think it is because we are new here and with the same background (all programmers - we speak other languages-uweks).
Then, we fixed a date to have lunch together, which is Thursday! So, every Thursday we will leave our bfs aside, and have lunch together unless we have meetings or important errand to run.
Later, Pinkcotton resigned, followed by SilverBells. Oranges, panda and redsponge continues with the Thursday lunch.
It is the last Thursday Lunch we had today! None of us leaving the company. But Oranges and Panda are moving to new office tomorrow, while I am going to move to another office end of this month! The 2 offices are quite a distance away. I do not have transport somemore. So, we might not be meeting up for Thursday lunch anymore.
Topic: Skincare and Beauty
Last month, Ccw asked me to pick some skincare for my mil on her birthday, this Aden was with us that time. When we gave the skincare to popo, he told popo that the skincare will make her become pretty.
'x'!
After a few days, my parents-in-law were invited to a dinner. So my mil dressed up nicely and put on makeup.
When she came downstairs, I was guiding Aden doing his homework.
He saw my mil and said: "婆婆,你很美勒."
Meaning: Grandma, you look pretty.
I think popo did not hear him, so I repeat it loud and clear: "婆婆,你很美勒."
Then, popo turned to us, Aden asked her: "妈咪买给你的,统统都有涂哈?"
Meaning: Do you put on everything that bought by mummy?
So, my son thinks that the skincare works wonders!
Topic: Life & Death
My cousin is staying at my mom's house while she is having her industrial training in Kuching. My son likes her because he thought she is slightly older than him, I think he is confused by her physical appearance, as my cousin is small petite girl.
When my son asked why my cousin is now staying with waipo, I told him that she is working in Kuching and got no place to stay, so she is staying with waipo.
One night, on our way home, my son and I had a little talk, which is about Life and Death!
Aden: 妈咪,做么Carol姨姨这样小就要去做工的?Mummy, why auntie Carol goes to work when she is still so small? (Well, he thought she is )
Me: 她不会小,她长大了。She is not small.
I then went on to tell him about life.
Me: 你看Carol姨姨读书,然后现在长大就做工赚钱。赚钱给她的爸爸和妈咪。等他结婚生孩子后,他就赚钱买milk milk,还学费,买书包给她的baby,像爸爸和妈咪。然后,做工、做工,老了,就退休,像公公和婆婆,不用做工咯。懂吗?You see, auntie Carol was studying and now she is working to earn money. She will give her money to her parents. Later, when she got married and have kid, she will have to earn money to buy milk, pay school fee and buy school bag for her baby, just like what papa and mummy does now. Then, slowly, we grow old, and retired. Just like what gong gong and popo now, no need to go to work. Understand?
Aden: 妈咪,以后我会老吗?Mummy, will I get old?
Me:会!每个人都会变老。Yes, of course. Everyone will become old one day.
Aden:嗯~,我不要变老。Muu, I don't want to grow old!
Me:为什么?!Why?
Aden: 我怕死掉!I am afraid of dying.
Me:@@!
*My brain work so hard to find something to say.*
Me: 这样的话,你就要早睡早起,身体才会健康。不可以吃炸的食物,才不会生病。等你长大会驾车了,要小心驾车,如果要游泳,只可以在游泳池游,不可以在海里游泳。懂吗?In that case, you will have to sleep early and wake up early, so that you are healthy. Cannot take fried food, or junk food, so that you won't get sick. When you can drive next time, you must drive carefully. If you want to swim, you must swim in a pool and not in the sea. Understand?
What a brilliant answer, don't you agree with me? But...
Aden: 妈咪,这样我就不会死掉了哈?Mummy, I won't die if I do accordingly?
I seriously cant think of anything better to tell him anymore. So, I just answer him with a "hmm" to sort of saying yes.
Well, my son is 4 years old and he is telling me this. What is next?
