Drawing: Human

Had been working on the flash for my jimui's wedding. I have not been touching macromedia flash after graduated from uni. Therefore, I was abit worried about it. I can't even remember how to use the keyframe when I first trying out after 2 years. Luckily, I am still young and can learn in faster pace. However due to the time constraint, I decided to make an easy one. An easy one means without much animation. I planned to make a touching story or some sort like that. However, the stupid computer suddenly crashed down and my jimui told me that the studio offered her to include her childhood montage in her wedding photos flash/slides. As a result, I stopped doing it for her. Feeling relieved *phew* but a bit sian-sian at the same time. It could be the greatest gift for her, u know? hee...

Erm...ya, that's how and why I suddenly want to polish up my drawing skill. I very much interested in doing animation. To do so, I must learn to draw so that I can produce something original. To do animation, one must be creative, talented in drawing and patient. Creative, well, that is what lack of in me and I decided not to take Multimedia as my major in uni. Though I am not gifted with talent in drawing, I am insterested to draw nice arts through practising it. Patient, believe it or not: a minute animation can take up a day or even more to be completed. It is tough!

So, the first lesson I had is "drawing human".

I tried to figure out how does the artist make their drawings look like real. Normally my drawing is rough and only presentable as draft. How do they make it like a photo? hMmMmMm...while trying to figure out, my first piece of art entitled "Her face" was completed. For comparison purpose, I also SHOW OFF my previous art work on human. Hee...

After drawing "Her Face", I learn how to smooth the drawing using smudge feature which is available in GIMP or Photoshop. By the way, was using GIMP to draw "Her face". Am trying to avoid from using Photoshop, need to get used to the OPEN SOURCE/FREEWARE world.
The next title of the art would be "Cartoon Girl". My drawings always turn out to be cartoon-like. So, I decided to try to draw a cartoon instead. The original picture is like this:

And my cartoon girl:

Description: She is running towards papa when papa back home from work. =)
I am quite satiSfied with my cartoon work. Though in the original pic, the girl is chasing a burtterfly. 'X'
Anyway, Since I have improved alot already, so I continued with the last piece of art: My Friend. I took up the challenge to draw a real person based on the photo. So, I chose to draw a friend of mine when she had her pretty shaped hair during CNY. However, I can't reveal her photo here.

And the completion of the 3 art works has marked the end of my first drawing lesson using GIMP.

Hopefully I can draw something like the girls on the chinese book cover on day.

Earphone

It is earphone.

I seldom use earphone before i work.

Once, I had a discman given by my koko. I brought that to hostel with me. After a few weeks, the discman was stolen and left only the earphone with me. So, I only had few weeks experience using earphone. I don't like earphone because it makes my ears ache after wearing for a while. Usually I will only wear one side so that each ear can take turn to suffer.

Then after a few years, when started to work, I brought the old earphone to work. The old earphone was then only functioning one side. It is ok for me, I just need one side anyway.
After a while, the old earphone finally die. I think it is good also la, my ears no need to suffer from the pain.

I cant tahan the soundless environment, so I decided to get a cheap earphone which costs RM1.80. Hee since it is a cheap one, once I bought back and try for a few minutes, one side is not working already!!! LOL

Again, one side is enough for me.

Then, yesterday, I threw the earphone into the dustbin liao. GOOD! 'x'
I told my bf about it and he gave his to me. WAH when I put on both sides, the sound started to tickle my heart!!!

The music is playing around my head. The drum is always hit on top of my head. It is so funny. I think my eyes are dancing with the music. KEKEKE

Well, I know this entry make myself sounds like a mushroom. Hee, but only if you understand the feeling or maybe you can recall the first time when you put on your earphone, then you will understand.

Anyway, I still dun like earphone! My ears sakit.

No headphone for me too. I feel very hot whenever putting on the headphone.

UNIMAS Gemilang

More photos for those who are not able to attend the official launching event of the new campus on 18th April 2006.

All the photos below taken in different direction where I remain standing at the same location. In front of me, there is the Chancellery.

A little to the left of the Chancellery building,there is the fountain. A big space for car resting between the Chancellery and me.

A little to the right of the Chancellery building is like this:
Can you see the network built for the pedestrians? It is amazing. They call it network of pedestrian malls.

Behind me, there is a lake. A little to my left, there are some buildings over the other side. I forgot what are they for already, but Faculty of Conputer Science and Information Technology and Faculty of Engineering are behind those building.

A little to my right now, there are some buildings again. Hmm... if not mistaken that should be the residential colleges. As for the tower-like bulding that appears on the left of the photo is the water tower! There are 2 of them, I hope it is enough to supply water for the students. I still remember that last time when I stayed at Kolej Kenari, I used to carry water from ground floor to first floor. Also, experienced to run over to other friends' apartment on the ground floor just to borrow the bathroom. Well, that's life in university.

For more information, please visit UNIMAS website.

In fact, I have more photos to show but I fail to upload them, not sure whether it is the streamyx problem or other reasons.

CAKE

TAKA...the name of the cake house with a lot of branches all over in Kuching.

The catalogue of the cakes is ambiguous.

Case #1, I went to buy a tiramisu cake. When browsing through the catalogue, I read that with my 2 BIG eyes: 1/2kg RM25, 1 kg RM50.

So it is fair, right? Double the price, double the size.

I make a order on the 1kg tiramisu cake. The TAKA girl issued the bill and put down RM60 on it. Though my bf's eyes are smaller, he pointed at the price and asked the girl why the price is different from the catalogue. And so the girl said: "Oh, price has been adjusted already." Oklo, price increase everywhere since the price for petrol has been increased.

My advice to TAKA, print a new catalogue la! Or tell me when I read through ur catalogue instead of putting down the price on to the bill without telling me first. To be polite or honest, whatever, you should let your customer know the price.

But anyway, I forgive them because the tiramisu cake is yummy!

***********

Case #2, my bf's sis and her bf went to another branch. They intended to order a square-shaped fruit cake. It appears in their catalogue (i think different branch has different catalogue or album, not too sure about this) that the photo of a nice square-shaped, 1.5kg fruit cake. Somewhere in the catalogue written: FC Fruit Cake RM58. So, if anyone not an idiot will think that the fruit cake as shown in the photo costs RM58. But the TAKA girl put it as 1kg and RM58 on the bill. Then my bf's sis asked why it is not 1.5kg? Then TAKA girl said it is RM58, the catalogue is not updated. Fine!

Later, my bf's sis received a call from TAKA and told her the square-shaped fruit cake can only be done when the cake is 1.5kg. So my bf's sis said nevermind lo. Just take the round shape then. TAKA also told her that the decoration of the cake will be different (I think it is without pudding or dunno what on top).

SO when she took back the cake, it is just any normal fruit cake which is supposed to be costed at RM45-50. And the cake is not soft at all, it is dry! I tasted this! It is not a cake that should be produced by a CAKE house. It is more like a done by a beginner. I mean if you named yourself CAKE house, please show some respect to yourself. Quality control is very important for any type of business.

After all, my bf's sis is very disappointed with the cake. She is a cake lover. She even dreams about cake.

Little story on cake: My bf's sis and I agreed to give away the BEST Fruit Cake award to May Flower. The price of the cake there is fair which is RM48 or 50, cant really remember. She just want to give a chance for other cake house, and it turns out to be like that. So, this is a very bad reputation for TAKA. For her, she might want to give it another try after few months to see whether there is any improvement if there is no unpleasant moment with the cake house.

BTW, the 2 cases just happened within this month.

So, cake houses out there please update your catalogue accordingly. Catalogue might not be important if the quality is there like what happened in case #1. But you will know the importance of the catalogue when case #2 occured.

Holiday~~

Have been to alot of places today.

Early in the morning, we went to Taman Sahabat and had dim sum there.

***

Then, we headed to UNIMAS -- New campus. WOW HOHOHO... THE NEW CAMPUS IS

@pple: Its design is futuristic.
sandbox (who is driving): I am lost!
ccw: there should be a tour guide...
redsponge: SO BIG MEH?!?!!?!!!

Envy the new students! ~,,~ It is so unfair!!!
Can you imagine this is where the students study? It is just like a shopping place, right??! Btw, did you notice some words on the floor? I think the hidden message is: READ WHEN YOU WALK!

Another piece of art on the floor that we found!

LOOK who is holding the umbrella for you when you are studying in the library???
Ya, that is how the ceiling looks like inside the library.

The buildings are mostly painted in white colour. But you might find some parts of the buildings painted in yellow, blue or red which represented UNIMAS.

***

Went to 海滨 (hai bin) restaurant at somewhere between buntal and santubong for dinner in the evening.

Grandpa

Grandpa is the person who has raised up all his 13 children. As what I know, he cares about his children as much as he can, even when his children has their own families. He is a great father.
BIAS, well 13 children, i do not know how to judge that.

Grandpa is the person who sent my cousins and I to primary schools in the early morning and fetched us home in the noon for 6 years. When we were in Primary 1 and 2, he would always wait for us at the main entrance to bring us to the car. Sometimes, if it were raining, he would bring the umbrella. When we grew older, we became naughty. We ran towards the car without umbrella when it was raining. And by the time we reached the car, we were WET. Then he started scolding! 'x'

When grandpa got angry, he used to say: TONG TEK PUN NGI! Meaning to kill you! When I was little, I always cant understand why he likes to say KILL the cat or dog when they were making alot of noise. OOpps..It is abit violent, but i believe the environment that has shaped him. He has gone true the war (maybe he was still a child that time) and also the history that we learned from our textbook. Basically it is about communist, war and japanese. So, when I grow older, I can understand why he used to say kill when something happen. It is a way to assure them that they are safe and does not mean that they really want to kill.

Although there is no SPECIAL touching story / little secret between grandpa and me, respect+strange is the memories that I have with me. Strangeness, I wonder does it exist in all the relationships between grandparents and grandchildren?

He passed away on 16th March 2006, this is an entry especially dedicated to him.

Crayon Shin Chan 蜡笔小新

动感超人 HO! HO! HO!

I bought a stationary which serves as both stencil & ruler from KFC. KFC?!! My bf actually wanted to eat KFC coleslaw while I spotted the free crayon shin chan's stationary that comes with the value fun meal (kiddo meal).

*GIGGLES*

Here my new stationary and my little Crayon Shin Chan drawing.

Hee...i always feel like to "pull" little shin chan's cheek (like how his mom always did in the cartoon show). He is very cute, right? 'x'

Few years back, my bro bought 3 little funny shin chan's toys from china.

It is a toy and not just a ceramic crayon shin chan. WHY??!

Because it can pee 'x'!!!

Hahaha...so fun!! How to make it shh shh? We must know how to produce urine first. LOL!! So just let the ceramic shin chan drink alot alot of water. Technically, how can you get the output without input?

Three simple steps:
1. Put it into the water for a few minutes.
2. Take it out from the water.
3. Pour HOT water onto the ceramic shin chan, and it will...'x'

I think you can find the ceramic shin chan in Kuching, my bf happened to buy one somewhere here.

Saving Project

Last year, I carried out a saving project with project code 2005/08/watch. The objective of this project is to save money in order to purchase something that I wish to have but might not be necessary. Example: branded goods. In short, it is like if you can save enough money within a time frame, then you can just awarded yourself with what you have targeted. If you cant, then you still can spend the money on other stuff.

Normally, a project will be initiated when I have a target. I will give myself a time frame to save an amount of money. Once I know what I want, I will find out the price. For example: it costs RM200 and I wish to own it within 2 months. With this information gathered, a simple calculation has to be made example RM200 / 60 dayS = RM3.3333. So I will save up RM3 from my daily expenses everyday. When the project is due, I will find out how much I have and spend it on the item. Sometimes, after 2 months, I might have changed my mind and decided not to buy what I have planned earlier but other thing instead or even continue the saving effort to go for other items like handphone. This saving project only works well when the targeted item price is within the range of 200-500. It is impossible to save RM10 from ur daily expenses a day, right? So if you think of dragging the due date to a year, just forget it. You will never make it for more than 6 months. You will just forget to put money into the container after a while. 'x' Ok, if you argue that you can save more than RM5 a day, then I guess u must have quite a good sum of income. If you have alot of money, why dont you just go ahead to buy the RM200 thingy right away?

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

HEE...this is a project that suitable for people who are patient, discipline and follow the rules of the game. Only if you have gone through the saving days, you will appreciate more on your achievement. 'x'

Normally, I will try to make the saving between RM 1-2 where I wont have any excuses not to save that RM1 or 2 each day.

Sometimes, I like to buy some little cute stuff from shop which below RM10. So it is a way to avoid myself from buying those useless little stuves too. You will realise that RM 1-2 can buy much, but when u put all the RM1 together...HE HE HE...you will learn the value of RM1. =)

Oh, back to the project last year. The project is blown off halfway without much reason stated. Probably I forgot to continue it. 'x' I even forgot to spent the money. This morning, while I was looking for an empty box or some container, I found an RM50 note in a container!!! Lost and found or treasure hunt or surprise!! YIPPIE!!

Saving Project is so EXCITING. You should give it a try!

BTW, the configuration of the project code is simple: year/month/item. NO auto-increment field require for this code. 'x'!!!

Agar-agar + Ice Cream + Banana

When mama asks me to eat agar-agar...
When I feel like to eat ice cream and banana...

Agar-agar + ice cream = lousy combination! Agar-agar spoils the coldness from the ice cream.

2. The objects behind the crabs are clear.

3. More blur

4. At least the coconut flesh is clear. But, can you recognise that it is a coconut? 'x'

On the way back, I took another pic which I think it is quite nice.

It was raining at somewhere!

Souvenir

TANG TANG TANG TANG

GIANT 波板糖 from oversea jimui

It looks like a rose too =)

Being fooled last night

When I signed in MSN Messenger last night, I saw a personal message like this "OH MY GOD! I WIN THE 2ND PRIZE!!!" from one of my friends. Of course I could not hide my curiousity, so I asked him about the prize. He told me that the prize = 20K!!!!! He planned to resign and find a better job. With that amount of money, he can be jobless for few months. Waiseh man!! Abit jealous!

So I asked him what competition is that. He said he KENAK lottery!

EEEEE...WHY I NEVER KENAK ONE? EVEN RM 4 for the last 2 digit in TOTO 6D also never kenak! SIAN SIAN SIAN!!!

Then he asked me today is what day? Well, i think he was trying to tell me it is April Fool! But NGONG me answered him: today is SATURDAY! I was thinking he must be overjoyed already. Cis, I believed that he was rolling on the floor at that time. He continued to fool me. He said he was too busy these few days until he forgot the date.

Then...after a while, after he had have enough fun, only he told me:

It's FUN to fool you!!! WAHAHAHAHAHAH

Gggrrrrrr ... #$%^&*/!

So...hehe I am going to use the same JOKE to fool whoever not reading my blog NEXT YEAR!!! 'x'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1st of April is also the day chosen by Leslie Cheung to end his life. He is always my bro's favourite artist. I love his songs too. My oversea jimui was soooo tempted to watch TV that night but her dad occupied the TV. She even sms-ed me to find out whether there is any special tv show for Leslie when I was being fooled by the other friend.
Leslie Cheung ~ I remembered that when I heard about the news that early morning, I called my bro and informed him about it. And my bro told me that he knew it already. In fact my koko also called him from singapore that morning (earlier than me). Really sad about it. But whenever I recall what happened that morning, I think it is funny that we all called up my bro as if Leslie is his best friend or relative or someone who is very close to him. In fact, Leslie will never know the existence of my bro. Hehe..
Taman Sahabat
I am not sure whether there is an english name for this park. The direct translation would be Friendship Park.
One of my jimuis has came back for holidays from oversea. I spent half a day with her today.
Went to fetch her at ard 9:40am. Once she jumped into the car, I asked her where would she want to go before lunch. Immediately she said: TAMAN SAHABAT! Without much thinking, I just drove to Taman Sahabat. She told me that she had been there one night but the photos taken are not clear. So she wanted to re-visit the place to take some nice photos in the day light. By the way, she likes to take alot of pictures and publishes them in her friendster.
When we reached there, the sun is SOOO BRIGHT! But luckily she got bring an umbrella along. But still very hot!
Later, when we met up with another jimui during lunch, she asked where we had been to. Oversea jimui told her that:
"We went to Taman Sahabat because we are friends ma!"
Me: =)
And the other jimui told me:
"Aduh!! Only you will bring her to the park during day time! It is so hot la! She asked me to bring her there the other day, but I rejected her and told her that she is siao!"
Me: =(
Yeah, I am good girl. But ler, the two of us still accompanied her to the beach in the afternoon!!! Hee...we 2 relaxed at Damai Lagoon's Lobby while she dragged another poor girl to walk around and take photos for her!!! HAHAHA....
Hey babe, if you are reading this, just want to tell you that am GLAD to have the chance to catch up with you again!! And you are still the same old YOU!
p.s.: OMG, my mama told me that the BRIDGE where we stoppped at to take photos for a while is actually not ok already! She read up from the newspaper recently saying that bridge is started to crack. I am not sure what does that means, but just thank god we are all back!
