It is a memorable day.

Aden practised to stand up on bed.

I encouraged him to walk.

He took 3 steps forward.

Bravo!

First long weekend

Let's cheer for the 3 consecutive long weekends - last, coming and next weekends!

Last Friday, we brought Aden to Palm Resort, Sematan for half day trip. We planned to let Aden to take his morning nap inside the car. He only slept for half an hour, normally he take 1.5 - 2 hours nap in the morning.

We only spent like half an hour under the hot sun. I mean got shelter la, not totally exposed ourselves under the sun. Aden was very curious about everything he saw - the beach table, beach umbrella, coconut tree and so on. However, we did not let him touch the sand, maybe next trip. It was too hot, we were there around noon time! ;p

He is very happy.

And, it has been long since I last see any nice scenery like this...

I miss taking photos using dslr but am happy enough with the quality of the photos taken using my camera phone.

On Saturday, my mom dated me to go shopping but end up she went out with my grandma! Grr...So, I went on shopping alone at tHeSpring. Met an old friend and her 11-months-old daughter and her mom! Woo...Feel great!

After an hour, I brought home...

Presents for Bulat, lil moo moo, my friend's bb (My friend expected due date is in Jan though) and a birthday cake for my uncle.
At night, we attended my uncle's birthday party. He has a grandson who is 2 weeks older than Aden and he can already walk around the restaurant steadily! It is funny to see the two picked up different skills at about the same age. They certainly love it when Aden call them one by one. But one thing, the elderly like my mom, mil or my auntie always want to make the 2 babies to stand together to compare their height! Haih...Ok, maybe it is funny to see the 2 babies to grow to be about the same height.

On Sunday, we attended HappyHeart's wedding dinner. It was a small reception for close relatives and friends only. The food was ichiban! Look at the first plate served:
Yum!

Like the simple wedding dinner where you get to chat with the bride and groom and take unlimited photos. Hahaha...

I still feel bad as I am not able to attend her actual day wedding in Penang. There are always times when we have to make difficult decision. Anyway, 我用最真誠的心祝福你們倆,天天幸福,一直到永遠。

Kekeke...I think about a week ago, my little boy starts calling me "Mummy mummy..." again!

He will call mummy and when I answer him, he will call again. How sweet!

My favourite pearl milk tea

Lunch at 人間茶坊 today. I never miss order the pearl milk tea there. I rate it as Kuching #1 pearl milk tea. Kakakaka!
The milk tea itself is tasted good and not too sweet while the tapioca balls are so chewy! LOVE it!

I will definitely order pearl milk tea to compare when I visit Taiwan next time!

Early Christmas celebration

This year, we celebrated Christmas at Puzzle, Pullman Kuching.

Baby Cola joined us at the buffet dinner! I hope that explained why there is no photo to show you all. I did not even take photo of the big Christmas tree at the lobby! Too bad, I did not take any photo of the food and environment. I was busy eating and entertaining baby Cola and chatting with friends! Kakaka...Anyway, I think the place is decorated nicely!

Anyway, it is celebrated last Saturday night as boi and KC were back in Kuching at the same time. This year we have boi, KC, Winnie, fui, ben, okk, @pple, syean, baby Cola, ccw and I! I think this is syean's first time joining us on Christmas celebration.

Gifts exchange!
Winnie thinks she is the biggest winner as she got my Christmas gift, which is wrapped in red and its size is biggest. So, she got the penguin rubbish bin! LOL!

This is what I got and I have to share it with baby Cola! Kekee...He loves it.

This is what ccw got, the aromatherapy candles.

Enjoy your Christmas!

Baby Cola's first toothbrush

Doctor gave baby Cola a toothbrush during the last month visit. It is soft. You wont hurt your baby gum while brushing.

But then, you need to bear the risk of getting bite because you insert your finger into it.

Popo helps baby Cola to brush his teeth everyday and baby Cola has snowy white teeth. Kekeke...

What is inside the little head?

Baby Cola is a bit violent lately. If he asked for certain thing and I did not fulfill his request, he will just "give me FIVE" right on my face! :(

I am not happy with it. So I tried to think of way to "educate" him.

1st attempt:
Warning. I told him that it hurts and "cannot hit mummy". He thought it was fun and continued to "GIMME FIVE".

2nd attempt:
Scolding. He stared back at me, as if he was even angrier than me and "GIMME FIVE"! Grr...

3rd attempt:
Hitting + scolding. I tried to hit on his little hand, then hit on his face to let him know how it feels. But, this attempt is totally a failure. He totally lost control and hit me. Once he heard "hit", he will HIT!

4th attempt:
Putting him inside playpen as a punishment. Ok, he was unhappy and begging to get out. So, I spent the time to "lecture" him. I doubt he understands me. I let him out after I finished my "lecture". After a while, he hit on my face again. So, I put him back into the playpen. Guess what? He cried a little. Then I found him "playing" with his birdie. The next second, I heard him making the "shh shh" sound! Is that how he try to free himself by hoping to pee inside the playpen and then I will get him out of it? Too bad, the trick did not work as he had just peed. But, it certainly make me wonder is that what my 15mo+ boy had in mind?

Anyway, just in case your baby is giving you the same problem, the followings are more successful attempts.

5th attempt:
Acting. When we were alone inside the bedroom at night, he hit me. So, I tried to "pok tong cheng", I cried and told him that it is painful. At first he still think it is funny and continue to hit me. Then when this continued for a while, he started to worry. After a while, he cried. LOL!
I was quite surprised, I did not see his expression as I covered up my eyes and pretended crying. So, when I heard him crying, I quickly hugged him and "sayang" him. Then he stopped crying. *Phew* I just want to let him know that it hurts and hitting people is not fun.

6th attempt:
Distract him. Since my way of teaching him is not working, I got this idea inside my bigger head. Whenever he hit me, I will tell him to "sayang" me. It works, he will sayang me. Then when I praise him, he will be happy and forget about hitting.

Colours for nails

My small collection of nail polish

I have never really finish a bottle of nail polish before buying new one. The main reason is I seldom apply nail polish on my nails.

This year, I suddenly have the urge to try new colours on my nails, especially those dark colours that I would never want to try when I was younger. For example black, red, purple, blue and green. I used to adore only light pink or nude colours on my fingernails and darker colours, which are close to our skin tone, on my toe nails.
Boring, right?
p/s: 2 out of 4 is gift from Pinkcotton some more. LOL!

I got myself 6 bottles of nail polish in this year. This is not a lot to some of you who loves to decorate yourself. To someone like me who seldom paint my fingernails, I think it is a lot.
Haven't try the blue yet.

I tried black on my toe nails. To me, it is not too outstanding. To my surprise, I can accept the colour quite well. However, whenever baby Cola sees it, he will for sure point at it and makes some noise to attract people. Kekee...I think he does not like it, he thinks it is dirty.

Next, it is the purple nail polish. At first, I am not used to it. It is quite bright and attractive. But later I find it looks nice, a good change to my toe nails which are usually painted in dull dark colours.

Recently, I tried the RED colour. It is not easy to search for. I got mine at thefaceshop. Personally, I painted it on my fingernails, and they look gorgeous! I am just so happy to find the red that I love and suit me! I am going to wear it whenever there is any occasion! Be it someone's wedding, Christmas or Chinese New Year. :)
I am not pro at painting, I know. ;p

Colours that I would like to try on next dark blue and dark green! ;p

My son can speak

Yes, baby Cola can speak quite a lot of words already.

He is 15 months old now. He can understand what I tell him most of the time. But it is the mama who cannot understand what he is talking about sometimes!

Incident #1
He wake up from 3 hours morning nap, it was already 1pm. It has passed his normal lunch hour. While letting him lazying in his cot, he suddenly requested for milk. I told him it was time for porridge. He repeated the word milk. I tried to persuade him to take porridge instead and his eyes started to turn red. Popo came over and looked at him. He turned his head away avoid seeing us or avoid us from seeing him.

Incident #2
I drove him to waipo's house. On the way, he told me what he saw like che che (car), bu-s, lorry/lorwie. Then suddenly he said something which I have no idea what it is and I have forgotten how he pronounced it now. I told him that I did not understand what he was referring to and he repeated it a few times. I had to apologise to him as I really could not figure it out.

Incident #3
I was on facebook. Baby Cola joined me and so I decided to show him his birthday photos I uploaded there. When he saw my sil and Bulat, he immediately called out mei-mei (kiu mei) and ko-ko. Then suddenly he pointed at the right side of the screen and said:"Fish". Yes, there is the fish image from FishVille - the latest game in facebook!

Incident #4
Outside Rock Road Seafood Restaurant, while waiting for ccw to park the car, baby Cola looked inside the restaurant and said:"Fish". Yes, he spotted the fish swimming inside the aquariums.

Incident #5
He played with ccw's credit card the other day, so I told him that it is credit card, and he managed to pronounce it as te-dit-KAD! So cute!

Incident #6
He stop from crawling on the floor, holding his palm up. He examined the dirt on it and said:"yi-yi"! You just need to clean it so that he can continue to crawl.

Nowadays, besides from ko-ko, he loves to call jiu-jiu and mei-mei too. He learns to say "bu yao" (don't want) instead of ngmoi in hakka now.

Over the weekend, I noticed "something" about baby Cola. My mom, lil moo moo (my youngest nephew), baby Cola and I were at the living room. Baby Cola was busy playing with Bulat's toys, I was chatting with my mom while watching tv and lil moo moo was enjoying his tummy time. Then lil moo moo had wet diaper, so my mom left lil moo moo and went into the room to take diaper. Baby Cola noticed my mom walked pass and turned to look at lil moo moo for a while, he decided to put down the toys and crawl towards lil moo moo. He then sit near to lil moo moo. I think he wanted to keep lil moo moo accomapnied while my mom was away. So, I told him to "sayang" di-di, he touched him gently on hand. When my mom returned, he continued to play with his toys! LOL. Then, got once when lil moo moo was placed in his play pen, baby Cola tried to play with him from the outside. He raised his voice and made funny sounds to "play" with lil moo moo. Just like how we (adult) cartoonise our voice while playing with babies, baby Cola is like a big boy doing all these. So sweet of him.

What other things he knows how to
Do the actions of washing hands and brushing teeth.
Greet people by doing "give me five".
Standing without holding for 1-2 minute.
Walk a few step with either side of his arm is grabbed.
Put the spoon into mouth. But I have yet to let him feed himself.
Pour water into a pail.

18.11.2009

It is another family day!

I love to see all our relatives gather together inside the house, squeezed like sardine fish in a can! ;p
I love my red nails!

I scan through my handphone, I only took photo of the wedding cake done by my cousin's wife and daughter-in-law.

Happy Wedding! =)

Empty SMS

Last night, baby Cola played with ccw's handphone and accidentally send out sms to a group of friends.

One of them told me about the empty SMS this morning. So I explained to her that it is a love letter from baby Cola actually. But he has yet to go to school and he does not know how to spell "I love you".

And she replied: It is the heart that matters.

The whole thing becomes so sweet.

14 months +

Hehee...No more monthly record for baby Cola, will update from time to time. ;p

Baby Cola has completed the series of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) this month. *cheers*

He is now 10.4kg. *cheers* Dory kept asking how long can I carry him, I think the answer would be as long as required. No choice...I hope he learn to walk soon!

He is 78cm, if I remember it correctly.

He moves his body when he listen to music. :)

He can speak quite a lot of words already like xia yu (raining), fei ji (plane), suo shi (keys), bobok(toys), etc.

We can communicate better now. He will point at the toys and nod his head to tell me that he wants me to get it for him. He will sit down and wait for me to get the toy for him when I told him to. Also, if we ask him whether he want something, he will reply us "oi" (yes in Hakka) or "ngmoi" (no in Hakka).

He is always a darling when I place him in his car seat while driving him out alone.

He refuses to call me. :((((

Baby Cola's first trip

He was excited and curious in the plane.
What's at the back?

What's in front?

He only cried a little bit when the plane started to land. I wonder he had a nightmare or painful ear.

Tired but still looked cute when reached my bro's house at midnight.

The rest of the trip, he behaved very well. Took his afternoon nap either in car, inside his stroller, or in bed without much problem. At first, I still worried that he need "sarung"!
Bulat and baby Cola spent most of the time together.
Baby Cola kept calling "ko-ko" every now and then even when they were inside different cars, he would turn back and look at the car behind then told me where his "ko-ko" was.

But no, they are not as "brother" as you think. They fought for toy! *faint*

When we went shopping, if baby Cola spotted this type of trolley, with a cab attached, he would for sure point at it and ask for riding in it. He loves it a lot. He thought he can drive. Quick people, the shopping malls in Kuching do not have this type of trolley yet! Business is here! ;p

Then, I also asked my 2nd sil to arrange an appointment with one of the studio in Penang to take photo for baby Cola. Personally, I think the package is cheaper than what I can find at Kuching. Later, I found that the studio has a lot of toys and baby costumes which cannot be found at any studio at Kuching (or I did not survey enough?). So, people, another business idea for you. The RM238 package include a 5R album with 13 photos, 1 A4 size poster, 1 bag with baby Cola's photos printed on it and a 8R photo. I added RM50 for 2 family photos included into the 5R album.

At Ipoh, baby Cola got the chance to get up the stage for the first time on my bro and dory's wedding reception. He must be too shy and refused to say out Yum-Teng in front of the guests. Baby Cola fell asleep during the dinner, so we did not have any photo with my bro and dory. *Sad* Dory looks very pretty that night!
I simply love this photo. Baby Cola looked like a big boy who can walk already but ...

Another first time for Baby Cola - swimming. Baby Cola actually refused to get into the pool at first as the water is cold. He shivered and told us "ng-moi" which means don't want in hakka. Slowly, he got excited and played happily inside the pool. we even tried to let him swim by holding his underarms and let him do the kicking. He did it quite well.
That is the end of the trip. We are now looking forward to the wedding reception held at Kuching this month.

Not Orchid la

When I went to Bali, I was very interested to bring back the flower hair band. I thought there would be a lot of different orchid hair bands.

But all I found is this flower hair band/clip only.
If it were not Fui who kept asking what is the flower, I would not notice that it is different from orchid! Haha!

So it is the frangipani! Not orchid la!

Places and Food in Bali

We had local food like ayam betutu both roasted and steamed and some sate lilit at hawker center for lunch on the first day.

Steamed ayam betutu was too spicy for our liking. Sate lilit was served cold. We still gobbled up everything as we were too hungry.

Our tour guide bring us to a beach where the New Kuta Beach Cafe is located. The cafe is built on higher ground. There is a guard to scan your handbag and underneath your clothes before letting you entering the compound of the cafe.

View from the cafe.
We continued to move to the South and reached Pura Luhur Uluwatu Temple. The temple located on a cliff top. It is inhabited by large number of monkeys which snatch visitors' belonging, including bags, cameras and eyeglasses. The scenario where the monkey attacks me and snatches away my spectacles scared me, so I decided to go in blindly (without wearing my spectacles). Thus, I came but I did not see, I left and I saw it in photos. What to do?

When we walking towards the performance stage, Fui was attacked by a monkey. It stole her bottle of water and drank it right away. Fui was brave enough to shove away the monkey when it first tried to grab her bottle. The monkey then she stared at her fiecely, like it was going to attack her. We all frozed, stood still not knowing how to help her out, luckily the tour guide was there and told her to throw away her bottle. Only then the monkey got away with the bottle. Phew~
The naughty monkey!

We watched the Kecak Dance which was performed by 70 men using their vocal without any help from other musical instruments. I would say the performance is not interesting, the men was there shouting the words "kecak" for almost an hour! But then the number of audiences is incredible. People walked in every now and then even until towards the end of the show.

Candlelight dinner at Jimbaran beach, listening to the rolling waves and enjoying the sea breeze. I think I was the only one that was still active at that time. Setting up tripod and moving here and there to take photos. The rest were exhausted already. But I really loved the place.

Our seafood: a fish, some squids, 2 prawns, 2 clams and white rice.

No activity that night after returning to hotel. We needed some rest.

On the second day, we visited Taman Ayun Temple in Mengwi. Ladies are not allow to enter some Balinese temple during menstruation.
Poor Fui had to wait for us outside the temple. :( It was a sunny day and hot!

I think this temple is famous with the pagodas.

Next we visited Ulu Danu Temple. Again, Fui was not allowed to go in. Luckily the scenery outside the temple is nice and since it is located on higher ground, the weather is cooling.

The temple is like rising out of the waters.

Another view of the temple from other side.

Bratan Lake, suddenly I love the serenity of lake.

We had buffet lunch at a nearby restaurant. Just some local food, I did not take any photo of it. ;p

We stopped by at the Strawberry Farm after lunch. No, there is no strawberry for us to pick up. ;p

The tour guide then dropped us at Candi Kuning, a market where you can get fruits and vegetables and some other goods like clothes, watches, etc. KC was the shopper winner of the day! Kakaka...he bought a Rolex there!

It triggered our shopping mood. When we reached Tanah Lot, we spent a lot of time at the market. Winnie got her paintings, the girls all got themselves a bag, kc and ben got themselves tattoos on the arms and ccw bought a kite!

When it was near to 6pm, we walked over to Tanah Lot temple. Mwehehe...the temple stands on top of a huge rock, surrounded by the sea. Among the temple we visited, I like this one the most. The water resided when we were there, we got the chance to walk near to the temple and take photos.

Woo~~ temple overdose. Visited 3 temples in a row.

We went to a shopping mall at Kuta area at night. We bought some beer and celebrated the Mooncake Festival together in Bali. Haha!

That night, I woke up from sleep because of my stomach cramped.

Woke up on the third day, not feeling very well.

Yeah, we went to see the volcano instead of temple.

Kintamani volcano which is active.

Batur Lake.

All we can do there is taking photo and paying 2000 rupiah for toilet per entry. The people there are more aggresive. One of the seller tagged OKK from carpark to where we took photo. When we asked to excuse us from taking group photo, she actually showed us her fist because we interrupted her doing business! So, we quickly snapped photos and went back into the car.

Next, Tirta Empul temple. 'x'! Yes, it is a temple again. Fui had to wait outside again and it was raining this time. Poor her.

The hot spring, it is very pretty!

Ok la, I admit that I am a bit "suaku" or "mushroom", I found all these amazing, the volcano and lava, the hot spring, the temples on rock, the temples on cliff. And even the "menjunjung" skill!
Amazing!!!!

As we traveled inside car for the past 2 days, we passed by many paddy fields! The tour guide promised to bring us to a paddy terrace for photo taking session. I love the greens!!!!

You can actually order some food and enjoy your meal at the paddy terrace.

But we did not do so. We went to Bebek Bengil, Dirty Duck Diner to have the famous crispy duck instead. A nice restaurant that I recommend you to go if you visit Bali. It is definitely different from any other restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, there are different designed booth.

You can get nearer to the paddy field, it is attached to the restaurant.

You can even pick up some paddy. Haha..

This is the famous crispy duck. I found it abit oily.

After the satisfying lunch, we headed to Ubud Royal Palace and the Ubud market. The goods sold at market are almost the same. If you want to get some souvenir, make sure you get them at the market and not at the shopping mall. I bought a bear at the shopping mall for Rp25000 and later found the same thing at the market, after bargain, it is only Rp10000. >.<

At night, we have dinner at a chinese cafe. Then Winnie, fui, okk, phin and kc went for the massage. I stayed back in room, thinking to get some rest. CCW accompanied me. Ben later joined ccw. Later that night, I started to have bad stomach cramp. I threw up all the food including the oily crispy duck around midnight. After that, I took medicine and went back to sleep. Everyone thought I would be better after throwing up. About an hour later, my stomach cramped badly and I threw up again. This time it was the medicine I took. Thinking this time, my tummy should be clean already, so we all went back to sleep. But an hour later, the same thing happened all over again, stomach cramped then vomitted. The cramp was getting more serious and ended up, I went to see doctor. Luckily there is the 24-hours clinic nearby. Thanks to the staff at Vira Bali hotel for sending me over to the clinic which is just a stone throw away. After taking the prescribed medicine, we could finally sleep. Poor Winnie, she thought she can have a good sleep after the massage, but who knows, disturbed by me. Another lucky thing is that we bought the travel insurance from MSIG and I can claimed the medical fee which is RM160+.

The next morning, I decided to sleep in the hotel and ccw had to accompany me. The rest continued with their tour to Nusa Dua and have babi guling. They brought back for ccw too. I was feeling much better after that.

We joined them in the afternoon. We went to Sukawati market, winnie bought the girls a sun dress each and the guys bought themselves a batik shirt each. That night, we had a Bali themed party at Ben and KC's room. We dressed ourselves up in Balinese style and posed for photos and featured Indo-Mee. Hahaha...

Leaving Bali on the fifth day in the afternoon. We spent the morning to walk around Kuta beach and market. The prices at Kuta market is much higher compare to other rural markets we went. However, we still manage to finish spending our rupiah there. Haha..

We had lunch at the airport and spent all the tour money we gathered earlier. Hahaha...We are proud of it.

Overall, I think this trip is quite well-organised.

Cheers!
