Month 8 in Lunar Calendar

After the 2 month 7s in Lunar calendar passed, we are in the month 8. (Opps, of course la, impossible we can skip to the 9th month! Or can we? I mean there are 2 month 7s this year, could it be possible to have no month 8 next year? haha)

Anyway, if month 7 were a scary month to you, what about month 8? Or maybe lunar calendar is just totally meaningless to you.

I am quite sensitive towards month 8 in lunar calendar. When I was a kid (not too long ago ^_^), I knew it is month 8 when I saw the red envelope / engagement candies appeared at my house. Being the youngest child, I always got the chance to attend dinner together with my parents. LOL! And the engagement candies would be mine!!! Ok, I shared it with my papa most of the time, he can have the one with nuts (I do not like that one). Lucky thing my bros did not fight with me for the other one. Probably guys do not like sweet stuff? Oh, there is this belief that little kid will become stubborn if they eat the engagement sweet. My uncles and grandma always nagged me if they found me eating the candy. Then they would tell my mama to stop me. However, my mama might have realised the fact that stubborn is a taurus's nature and she never stops me from eating it. hehehehehe...

The first wedding invitation I received is from my ex-employer in 1999. That was my very first time attending a dinner on my own. And that was my first time get to know how does the fish lips soup taste. *Sigh* I hate fish lips because people tend to replace fin soup with fish lips soup! To me, attending dinner means to eat fin soup bo! Although the concept is not right at all, fin soup is always in the menu of the dinner last time. And that is why I like to attend all the wedding/birthday dinners when little lo. Somemore, people will always reserve 2 bowls of the soup for the cute lil' sweet kid like me that time. But we cannot compare with last time la, all the price increases, so I can only sip the fish lips soup and imagine the fin soup in my mouth lo.

Ok ok..enough of the soup matter.

Last Friday (the very first day of month 8), I received an invitation card from a colleague. Just hours ago, my dad got another one from his old friend. The date for the 2 weddings is the same. At first, I thought we are going to the same dinner since this colleague's soon-to-be hubby is Kuching hakka ma. But they are different.

Woo...I believe there would be more to come. This is just the beginning...^_^
