5th July - Macau (Part 2)

...continue from 5th July - Macau (Part 1)

Next Stop - A-MA Temple
We did not really visit the temple as it started to rain. So, we proceeded to the next stop which is Macau Maritime Museum

The museum has 3 floors:
Ground Floor - Maritime Ethnology Exhibition
First Floor - Maritime History
Second Floor - The Maritime Technology Exhibition

On the ground floor, we found...
The small theatre with four movable scenes portraying the legend of the Goddess A-MA.

Each seat is attached to a phone. Hold the phone to your ear and listen to the language according to your preference: Mandarin, English or Portugese.

The exhibition on this floor also includes the traditions of Macau Fishermen such as festivals celebration, fishing techniques and model of vessels.

Ways of catching fish.

baby wear

The baby wear looks cute, right? The chinese guords are made of lightwood and act as the lifebuoys.

On the first floor, we were getting quite excited to find the exhibition related to what we learnt from the History Textbook in secondary school! Haha
Laksamana Cheng Ho

The famous Laksamana Cheng Ho. The displays are so small and pretty.

Do you still remember Vasco da Gama? If you pressed on the button (as shown on top left corner), you will see the route he sailed long long time ago. Hee, if only our textbook is as interesting as this one. ;p

On the second floor, we found some antique.
barometer and compass

At one section, I found a few machine for me to send e-postcards to friends. =)
e-Postcard

But i only managed to send to a colleague. I doubt why the rest cant receive it. I sent one to my gmail account too, but too bad, I did not receive it as well.

After spending about 2 hours inside the museum, we had our lunch at A Lorcha which according wikipedia, it is one of the famous Portugese restaurants, so ccw made resevation the night before via phone.
A Lorcha

It is located right at the A-MA temple bus stand and you will have no chance to miss it. =)

Glanced through the menu, not knowing what is nice and I decided to seek for the restaurant recommendation dish. Not sure whether he is the chef, he recommended the clam. Ccw ordered the African Chicken.
Coke and 7up - Best drinks after exercises. According to the "chef", the bread goes well with the clam soup. So, I tried to deep the bread into the soup and sent it into my mouth together with the clam meat. MmMMmMMM..ok NOT BAD! 'x'

African Chicken

As for American African Chicken, according to the "chef", it is abit sour + abit spicy. But, I find that it is not spicy at all! ;p

The portion of the dishes are enough for 3 persons, after finishing them, we were full again.

After that we went over the street and took another bus to go down to Golden Lotus Square. The trip was like treasure hunt. We were provided with the map and some information we gathered from the internet, then we looked for the treasure. Each time we completed a goal, we would get very excited.

After taking some pictures with the gigantic golden lotus, our next destination was the Grand Prix Museum and Wine Museum. According to the information we had, it is somewhere near the Golden Lotus Square. If you happen to read this post, this is the hint I will provide to you: The museums are opposite the Sands Casino. Golden Lotus is between sand casino and museums. 'x'! Do not seek help from the whoever sitting inside the booth at Golden Lotus Square, he might fool you! Kekeke we kenak lo! He gave us a totally opposite direction!

We found the museums!

Vroom~~

Cheers~

We did not stay too long in the 2 museums. Since it was still quite early, ccw decided to take a cab to the lighthouse. I like the small church besides the lighthouse. It just look cute! haha. The church also has many years history and the mural inside is mostly gone already.

Actually the lighthouse is located within a garden. But the plants grow in Summer are just like what we have in Kuching. So I did not take much photos there.

We then took the cab and went to the Fishermen's Wharf. The place is quite big. We were tired of walking at that time, so we stopped to have some drinks. I must say it is a good place for photo shooting.

Opposite the Fishermen's Wharf, it is the New Yaohan, the largest shopping mall in Macau. I visited the floor selling cosmetics, skin care products and perfumes. One of the counter girl told me that I can get cheaper cosmetic and skin care in Macau as they are duty free. But after I checked on the prices, it is only a few RM cheaper. Some are even more expensive than Kuching. But I still bought a few items ;p. As for the perfumes, they are much cheaper, like RM20-RM50 difference. I did not buy any perfume as this was only the second day of the trip and I would be coming back to Macau for the last day of the trip.

It was dinner time! We went to the foodcourt upstair to have our dinner. I found the system there rather amusing. Each dish has a code. You ordered and paid for the food at the cashier. The receipt would be the ticket to claim the food later. The booth owner will call out your ticket number through the loudspeakers when your food is ready. :) So, you will have to be alert. ;p
Food Ticket

Last stop of the day, from New Yaohan, we took taxi to the Lisboa Casino.
Grand?

Of course, it is grand lor, they used my money to paste onto their wall one wo! Kekekeke...lost money! Big lose! *shake head*

End of Day 2!
